You say it's my birthday...

Yup. It is. And I can't believe it when I say I am 57 years old. How can that be? Anyways, here's how I spent my day.
I elected to take a 'just cause' day off of work.
I fell back asleep after the alarm went off.
I had coffee and watched the a.m. shows. I started with NBC because I am fixated on Tim Russert and had to see clips of his memorial service one more time. Then I went to Good Morning America 'cause I like it better.
Then I put on my gardening gloves and went out to play. Yes. I do. Honest, I enjoy it.
Took a break from gardening. Called Chris. They sang Happy B'day to me.
Then Chelsea made me a smoothie with fresh strawberries. Yum.
Then I went to Gabe's. I'm allowed, it's my birthday.
Then I came home. I opened a bottle of wine. White. Yum.
Talked to Mellie. Cam said happy birthday ya ya. Kaela said something about Micka Mouse.
Ate Hamburgers. Don grilled. Yum. And left over stirfry from yesterday. I went over the top with it yesterday and it tastes even better today.
That's pretty much it. It was a fabulous day. Think I'll take the day off on my birthday every year.

It's Summer!

It's summer... I can tell because we have moved outside. We've been spending all of our relaxing time on the deck and enjoying it in the usual ways. The flowers are going through their cycles, the perennials coming and going and the annuals gearing up for color throughout the season.

These are the first blooms of the evening primrose that Tina gave us. It transplanted without problem and is beginning to spread already. I'm looking forward to the whole bed being full of these delicate yellow flowers.

We also got a new camera, so we've been playing with it and with iphoto to enhance the photos -- although I have to say, the straight out of the camera shots are usually pretty darn good. Anyway, I have no idea what these flowers are, but they bloom at this time every year. The flowers don't stay nearly long enough. I just love them. I love the unusual shape, the texture and the color.

It's not only flowers that we like to have in our back yard. We really love to include our daily dose of fruit in our outside, relaxing time:

The Littlest Steeler Fan

Sweet little Misha, my baby's baby, is here. Brad and Rhonda have a beautiful baby girl, born on May 30, 8 lb, 11 oz. I can't wait to meet her

By the way, she's already a Stillers fan--
Probably the cutest fan they have.

But look at this... oh my gosh... could she be cuter?
